The Mega Man X series returns with new features

The Mega Man X series arrives on contemporary hardware with newly added X Challenge Mode and an extensive Museum Mode. Enjoy a substantial collection of Mega Man X adventures.

Mega Man X was born in 1993 and celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2018. To commemorate that anniversary, the eight games were faithfully brought to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 across two collections.

Among the many offshoots of Mega Man, the Mega Man X series inherits the original's 2D action DNA. Its fast-paced action and serious world, which grows deeper with each game, gained popularity and established it as a distinct brand.

The four early adventures

This collection contains the first four games: Mega Man X, Mega Man X2, Mega Man X3 and Mega Man X4.

Intricately drawn character designs, fluid action and carefully balanced difficulty inherited from the originals quickly won fans and established the Mega Man X name.

The new hero X was born in the first game, released in December 1993. This memorable beginning presents a world different from the original Mega Man series and brings together a wide range of actions.

X Challenge Mode

A demanding new mode, X Challenge, has been added. Powerful bosses from throughout the Mega Man X series team up across game boundaries to attack the player.

Museum Mode

Explore a large collection of development and setting materials, illustrations, original animation, merchandise catalogues, videos and background music. From nostalgic material to things you may never have seen before, there is plenty to discover.

The two collections share their general Museum Mode content. Illustrations and background music correspond to the games in each collection: Mega Man X through Mega Man X4 here, and Mega Man X5 through Mega Man X8 in Collection 2.

Enhanced graphics

Choose among three different visual styles. Filter 1 applies smooth correction, Filter 2 recreates the look of a CRT television, and turning filters off displays the original pixel graphics.

In the two-collection line-up, these three filters apply to Mega Man X through Mega Man X6. Mega Man X7 and Mega Man X8, included in Collection 2, are presented at higher resolution.
