PlayStation 4 Pro is also supported, enabling a 4K playing experience.

Original-version features restored

The experience of the original PS2 version is reproduced as closely as possible.

Options let you switch the screen ratio from 16:9 to 4:3, and turn the loading-screen mini-games on or off.

Players who experienced the PS2 original may find old memories returning when they play in an environment closer to that first experience.

Story

Once upon a time, in an age of myth when people lived peacefully alongside nature, the people of the nature-filled land of Nakatsukuni enjoyed tranquil lives.

Then, one night, a terrible calamity suddenly struck.

The seal on Yamata-no-Orochi, a great monster defeated in ancient times, was broken. Its curse shut the world away in darkness.

To save Nakatsukuni, Sakuya, the spirit dwelling in the sacred tree, performs a resurrection rite.

She calls the great deity Amaterasu back into the world: victorious in the ancient battle against Yamata-no-Orochi, but wounded and deprived of a physical form.

Recalled by Sakuya, Amaterasu sets out to save every life and drive away the calamity, accompanied, for some reason, by the sharp-tongued wandering artist Issun.

Characters

Amaterasu is the protagonist. Having lost a physical body in the ancient battle against Orochi, the deity returns to life by inhabiting the statue of Kamiki Village’s guardian god.

Issun is a tiny fairy-like wandering artist who travels with Amaterasu.

Princess Sakuya of the Konohana tree is a spirit dwelling in the sacred tree and watching over Kamiki Village.
