Hunting Oni enters a new open world

Become a Mononofu, a warrior with special powers, and fight alongside companions in a world locked in an endless struggle against Oni. Toukiden 2 is the direct sequel to Toukiden, inheriting and evolving its distinctive body-part destruction action.

The original hunting-action game was released for PlayStation Vita and PSP in 2013 as a new challenge for Koei Tecmo Games’ Omega Force team. Alongside its action, its grand story in a Japanese-inspired world and appealing characters received praise. Its direct sequel now arrives.

This is Omega Force’s first open-world system. Unlike earlier hunting-action games, varied fields form one continuous map. Traverse its vast world on your own feet and experience hunting action on a new stage.

The story

It is the Meiji era. The Oomagadoki calamity has devastated the world. The visible history that had continued unbroken is destroyed, and a hidden history of roaming monsters begins to engulf the world.

Great numbers of Oni appear in the far north and move south, ravaging human settlements. Mononofu warriors deployed in Yokohama to intercept them defend its streets through fierce battles.

During the fighting, an enormous Oni appears overhead. One Mononofu is swallowed by the demon gate it opens. Ten years later, a Mononofu with no memory arrives in Mahoroba Village at the far western edge.

Hunting action across one continuous world

From the village serving as your base to the battlefields, the world is represented as a single continuous open-world map. Lands with varied terrain spread across the fields, offering new ways to meet people and encounter Oni in different places.

Face powerful Oni with the Demon Hand

The Mononofu’s Demon Hand power creates a giant hand, enabling spectacular actions such as pulling an Oni several times the size of a human down to the ground. Beyond combat, it can also interact with natural features of the landscape.

Complete body-part destruction

Complete body-part destruction removes a part together with the life force contained within it. Losing arms or legs greatly changes an Oni’s behavior. Destroy parts strategically to gain an advantage.

Two new weapon types

Sword and Shield and Chain Whip join the available weapons. Including returning types such as Sword and Bow, there are eleven weapon types in total. Identify each weapon’s different attack characteristics to defeat the Oni.

Renewed Mitama, the souls of heroes from Japanese history

The new Control style brings the total to eleven combat styles. These include Attack, specializing in offense, and Defense, specializing in protection, among other varied approaches.

New characters and a new story

Illustrator Hidari continues as character designer from the previous entry. An accomplished voice cast brings the distinctive characters to life.

Fight together online

The online multiplayer familiar to hunting-action games is included. The original announcement also planned new cooperative play while maintaining the sense of immersion. Gather Mononofu and experience new ways of fighting together.
