Puniru Is a Cute Slime Animation

That “cute” slime is coming back! Is this the greatest cuteness of the century, recognised around the world?

Puniru Is a Cute Slime has been serialised as an original work on the weekly online comic platform Shukan CoroCoro Comic since the site’s launch. The story begins when Puniru, a slime created by the protagonist Kotaro, transforms into an extraordinarily beautiful girl.

Her slime body lets her change into all kinds of cute forms: a grown-up, a fashionable girl, an elementary-school child, a mischievous child, a prince, or even a giant. This fresh kind of heroine has become a talking point!

The lively, laughter-filled everyday life of living with a slime, together with Kotaro and Puniru’s childhood-friend romantic comedy, quickly found an audience. Within two months of its launch, the series passed 3.5 million page views on Shukan CoroCoro Comic. In August 2022, just four months after serialisation began, it took fourth place in the web-manga category of the Next Manga Awards 2022. By September 2024, its cumulative page views had exceeded 22 million, and its momentum kept growing. Enjoy Puniru’s endlessly changing, squishily cute forms in the television anime too!

This is the story of Puniru the slime and middle-school student Kotaro, until the day they stop being friends…

Kotaro Kawaii is in his second year of middle school. A slime he made in elementary school came to life, and for seven years he has lived happily with this friend, whom he named Puniru.

But Kotaro has a problem. They have both grown over those seven years, and Puniru has transformed into an extraordinarily beautiful girl!

She can take on countless other cute forms as well. Her carefree words and actions leave Kotaro flustered and sweep him into one unpredictable day after another. Can Puniru and Kotaro remain friends and keep living happily together forever?
