Rust-Eater Bisco Animation

The extraordinary light novel that became the first title to win both the overall and new-work rankings in Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! 2019 finally receives its long-awaited television anime adaptation. Rust-Eater Bisco Blu-ray Volume 1 opens the adventure.

The acclaimed novel had already earned strong support before its adaptation. After many calls for an anime version, the series began airing in January 2022. Its announcement also raised anticipation in North America, Europe and China. The music combines the force of an established alternative-rock creator with the melodic sensitivity and elegance of an emerging composer known for anime theme songs.

Across Japan, a rust wind blows, corroding everything in its path. People live in fear of the rust eating away at their towns and their lives. Bisco Akaboshi, a boy from the despised Mushroom Keeper clan, journeys in search of Rust-Eater, a medicinal mushroom said to purify all rust, hoping to save his dying mentor.

During his travels, he meets the handsome young doctor Milo Nekoyanagi in Imihama. Milo is also searching for a way to treat the rust consuming his beloved elder sister. When the two boys join forces to save the people they love, a new adventure begins. Even rust cannot eat away at the human heart.

The package features new original-series artwork on the slipcase and new anime artwork on the digipak. A special booklet includes the original author's newly written short story, A Lover for Your Stomach, together with episode commentary, character and art settings, a gallery of recording-script covers, and cast and staff interviews. Package specifications are subject to change.
