Across Japan, a rust wind blows, corroding everything in its path. People live in fear of the rust eating away at their towns and their lives. Bisco Akaboshi, a boy from the despised Mushroom Keeper clan, journeys in search of Rust-Eater, a medicinal mushroom said to purify all rust, hoping to save his dying mentor.

During his travels, he meets the handsome young doctor Milo Nekoyanagi in Imihama. Milo is also searching for a way to treat the rust consuming his beloved elder sister. When the two boys join forces to save the people they love, a new adventure begins. Even rust cannot eat away at the human heart.

Travelling northeast across the Calvero Shell-Sand Sea, Bisco and Milo reach the town of Tetsujin. There are no adults in this town: only children live there, and their home is under threat from the ferocious flying pufferfish known as Tobifugu.

The package features new artwork by original illustrator K. Akagishi on the slipcase and new anime artwork on the digipak. The special booklet includes Shinji Cobukubo's newly written short story, The Legend of Great-Clawed Akutagawa: Showdown with Starfish Marshal Pentagua, alongside episode commentary, character settings, a gallery of recording-script covers, interviews, and cast and staff comments.
