Sasaki and Miyano Animation

An upperclassman he admires. A younger student who catches his attention. Feelings begin to overflow between them. Sasaki and Miyano brings a refreshing story of high-school life to television animation.

The original manga, popular on Gene pixiv, had passed 1.02 million copies across its print and digital editions by October 2021. Supported by fans through the Hirano and Kagiura spin-off, novels, drama CDs and staged readings, the series made its television-anime debut in January 2022. After a fight at school brings Miyano and Sasaki together, their hearts gradually begin to move.

One summer day, Yoshikazu Miyano, a boy who enjoys boys’ love manga but feels self-conscious about his feminine face, happens upon a fight at school. Just as he gathers the courage to intervene, a slightly delinquent upperclassman, Shumei Sasaki, holds him back by the shoulder and steps in instead.

From then on, Sasaki takes an inexplicable liking to Miyano. To Miyano’s surprise, he even asks to borrow his favourite manga. Sasaki finds himself increasingly drawn to Miyano as his eyes light up while talking about BL.

The volume includes a textless ending. Its original first-production edition was announced with an illustrated outer box, a special booklet containing a new manga, an illustrated digipak and a bonus DVD of the Sasamyaa Radio Christmas special streamed on December 25, 2021, just before the television anime began airing. These limited extras are subject to availability and are not guaranteed with the current copy.
