Uramichi Oniisan Anime

Hello, good children! Do you like a big brother with two sides? Uramichi Oniisan Volume 3 brings the television anime that began broadcasting on TV Tokyo and other channels in July 2021 to Blu-ray.

Uramichi Omota is the gymnastics instructor on the educational programme Maman Together. Known as Uramichi Oniisan, he is a kind big brother who greets the children with a smile. But now and then they catch a glimpse of his other side. Life is exhausting, painful, and he does not want to do anything. The darkness of adult life slips out from his unstable mental state, leaving the children somewhat taken aback.

Even so, adults keep looking ahead. Even when there is no hope in the world, even when they despair at the workings of society, he wants to meet the expectations placed on him as an educational-programme big brother. This backward-looking hymn to life is a gift to good children who have grown up.

The Blu-ray contains episodes 7-9, running 71 minutes. Episode 8 features audio commentary by Tomokazu Sugita as Tobikichi Usahara and Yuichi Nakamura as Mitsuo Kumatani.

The accompanying CD, Maman Together Songs 1, contains Kasa Mottenai Toki ni Kagitte Ame Furu no Nande, Ete Fuete and Neko ga Nanimo Nai Kukan o Miteru, with Naniwa no Koi no Pair Look as a bonus track. A booklet is enclosed. Special packaging featuring new artwork by Gaku Kuze was supplied with original first-press copies; its inclusion depends on the supplied copy and is not guaranteed.
