99.9 Criminal Lawyer New Encounters Special Blu-ray

A new case. The greatest enemy appears. Jun Matsumoto returns as the extraordinarily unconventional lawyer in a completely new television special broadcast on the eve of the film's release.

Even in cases considered 99.9 percent certain to end in conviction, lawyer Hiroto Miyama, played by Jun Matsumoto, relentlessly pursues the remaining 0.1 percent of the facts until he is satisfied, winning acquittals. At Madarame Law Firm, where he works, Atsuhiro Sada, played by Teruyuki Kagawa, has become the new director.

At Sada's inauguration party, Shozo Wakatsuki, played by Renji Ishibashi and chairman of a major automobile manufacturer, asks him to train his granddaughter, a newly qualified lawyer, at the firm. Sada readily agrees.

Meanwhile, Miyama visits his client Koji Oshima, played by Kazuya Kojima, at a detention center. Oshima has been arrested and indicted for stealing underwear. Although he denies it, the circumstantial evidence seems to make his guilt certain. Honoka Kono, played by Hana Sugisaki, was originally handling the defense and recommended seeking leniency. Insisting he did not commit the crime, Oshima switched to Miyama in the hope of winning an acquittal.

Following Oshima's account, Miyama immediately heads to Kesennuma. For some reason, Honoka goes along too. There, both of them find their lives in danger.

Several days later, Honoka arrives at Madarame Law Firm. She turns out to be Wakatsuki's granddaughter. She demands that Sada let her work in criminal defense, concealing a particular intention after the ordeal Miyama put her through in Kesennuma. Although Wakatsuki asked Sada to train her as a civil lawyer, he accepts her demand and puts her into criminal defense without telling her grandfather.

One day, a request arrives concerning a politician's bribery case. Yasuyuki Okabe, considered a likely candidate for the next mayor, has been arrested for accepting a bribe, but denies the accusation. Tsuburaya, who allegedly paid it, has already admitted guilt and been convicted. Overturning a bribery case whose proceedings have already concluded seems almost impossible.

Miyama and Sada visit Kyohei Nagumo, played by Hidetoshi Nishijima, who defended Tsuburaya. Behind his mild expression, they sense questionable legal methods and become increasingly wary. Nagumo is also secretly in contact with the prosecution in a case Miyama is handling, and stands directly in their way. Can Miyama uncover the truth?

This Blu-ray contains the 118-minute special, Japanese subtitles for the main program, and the thirty-four-minute 99.9 SP Document feature.
