Aki wa Haru to Gohan wo Tabetai Blu-ray

Happiness is sharing a meal.

Aki wa Haru to Gohan wo Tabetai, the BL manga by rising food-story creator Makoto Taji, has captured readers’ hearts and appetites. It now comes to life as a live-action film.

High-school classmates Junta Akiyoshi, known as Aki, and Harutsugu Fujishiro, known as Haru, attend different universities but begin sharing a house in a quiet residential neighbourhood. Aki handles the cooking, specialising in easy recipes with his own twists: tomato shio ramen, toasted sandwiches, gyoza and cheese dakgalbi, soy-milk ramen hot pot, and more. Haru, who takes care of the washing up, happily devours Aki’s home cooking. Their friends and Haru’s older sister Rikka warmly watch over the pair’s natural, comfortable closeness.

Their days together satisfy both their hearts and their stomachs. Haru studies at an art university and decides to become a photographer after his professor praises snapshots he has taken of Aki. Aki, meanwhile, has yet to discover what he wants to do and struggles with his job search. One day, Haru’s professor recommends that he study in the United Kingdom to pursue photography.

Haru worries about studying abroad, but cannot bring himself to discuss it with Aki, who seems busy with job applications and university assignments. At a Halloween party, Yoneyama and Mugita unexpectedly bring up Haru’s possible move to the United Kingdom. Aki is left speechless. Unlike Haru, he still does not know which path to take, and is hurt that Haru did not even confide in him. Will their peaceful, happy life together end with this awkwardness hanging between them?

Bonus footage includes an extended making-of, relaxed scenes of the pair cooking, stage greetings and a trailer.
