BLUE GIANT MOMENTUM at impulse! selects music from the impulse! catalogue through the world of the jazz manga. After the Japanese, European and American chapters of Dai Miyamoto's journey, BLUE GIANT MOMENTUM follows him in New York. This is the second compilation for that chapter and the seventh across the BLUE GIANT series.
The selection focuses on impulse!, the label Dai signs with in the story, as it marks its sixty-fifth anniversary. Known for its "The New Wave in Jazz" outlook, the label's adventurous recordings provide a meeting point for jazz listeners, manga readers and newcomers alike. The programme includes John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Art Blakey, Roy Haynes, Archie Shepp and Pharoah Sanders, supervised and selected by Shinichi Ishizuka and NUMBER8.
New jacket artwork by Ishizuka accompanies an original eight-page story in the booklet. This is a 180g vinyl pressing. Some audible imperfections originate in the original masters; lyrics and translated lyrics are not included.
