Blue Giant Verve Jazz

BLUE GIANT MOMENTUM at impulse! selects music from the label at the heart of the jazz manga's latest chapter. After BLUE GIANT in Japan, BLUE GIANT SUPREME in Europe and BLUE GIANT EXPLORER in America, saxophonist Dai Miyamoto takes on New York in MOMENTUM. This is the second MOMENTUM compilation and the seventh BLUE GIANT collection overall.

Celebrating impulse!'s 65th anniversary, it draws together older and newer recordings that resonate with the manga's world. The label, which Dai joins in the story, has long championed adventurous music under the banner The New Wave in Jazz. Selections include John Coltrane, whose centenary falls in 2026, and Sonny Rollins, offering an entry point for manga readers and new listeners as well as established jazz fans.

Shinichi Ishizuka provides newly drawn cover artwork and an original eight-page story for the booklet. Ishizuka and NUMBER8 supervise and select the music. Some audible imperfections originate in the original masters; lyrics and translations are not included.
