Bye Bye, Earth Anime

Make the sword sing and cut a path through the world. The foundational masterpiece by visionary writer Tow Ubukata, long considered impossible to film, finally becomes an anime with leading Japanese creators. The author won the Booksellers Award for Tenchi Meisatsu and wrote for Fafner in the Azure and Ghost in the Shell: ARISE. His expansive world comes to the screen through director Yasuto Nishikata, series composer Hiroyuki Yoshino, composer Kevin Penkin and animation studio LIDENFILMS. A girl and her greatsword lead a large-scale adventure of serious action, portraying a strong woman who faces loneliness and fights for her purpose.

In a world inhabited by beastfolk taking the forms of many animals, Belle Lablac was born as its only human. Without fangs, fur or scales, she is called Faceless. Unable to find anyone of her own kind, she spends her days in solitude. Longing to join the world, she resolves to search for her roots, carrying the roaring sword Runding, as large as she is. She does not yet know the trials awaiting her as the price of that journey.

Volume 1 contains the first through fifth movements, episodes 1–5. Fairouz Ai plays Belle Lablac, Koki Uchiyama plays Adonis Question, Junichi Suwabe plays Sian Lablac, Natsuki Hanae plays Kitty the All, Satoshi Hino plays Shandy Gaff, Saori Hayami plays Shelly, Junya Enoki plays Guinness, Ami Koshimizu plays Benedictine and Miyuki Sawashiro plays Drambuie. Kenjiro Tsuda voices King Rawhide's Justice and Setsuji Sato voices his Evil.

The opening theme is FACELESS by ASCA, and the ending is I LUV U 2 by LMYK. Character designer Yuki Hino supplies new artwork for the outer case, accompanied by a booklet. Video extras include the creditless opening and the first and second teaser videos. The 120-minute region-free Blu-ray has Japanese Linear PCM 2-channel stereo audio and no subtitles.
