Chimudondon Complete Edition Blu-ray Box 1

Anyone can smile when sharing delicious food with the people they love. A heroine dreams of the cuisine of her Okinawan homeland, supported by her siblings. This warm fifty-year story follows four distinct Okinawan siblings from the island's return to Japan, as they hurt, encourage one another and grow into adulthood. There is laughter and there are tears.

In the 1960s, while Okinawa is still under American administration, the Higa family lives in a village in the lush Yanbaru region of the island's north. The parents work hard to support their farming household. Their four children, an eldest son and three daughters, grow up with lively individual personalities, quarrelling yet remaining close.

The second daughter, Nobuko, played by Yuina Kuroshima, loves eating delicious food. For her as an elementary-school child, playing in the fields, mountains or sea means gathering something to eat. One day, during a meal at a restaurant in town, she tastes Western food for the first time and is captivated.

Then tragedy strikes. Her kind father dies suddenly, leaving her mother to raise four children alone amid financial hardship. Years pass, and as Nobuko finishes high school, she dreams of going to Tokyo and becoming a chef of Western cuisine. It is 1972, the year Okinawa returns to Japan. With her family's support, she travels to Tokyo and begins training in the kitchen of a renowned restaurant.
