“This time, it’s my turn to support you.” “I can’t bear being apart from you.” So Okuno and Yudai Toyoda return in the eagerly awaited sequel to Cosmetic Playlover. The cosmetics industry’s two princes face their greatest crisis in a deeply affectionate love story that takes both romance and work to new heights.

The purehearted workplace romance that carefully traced hardworking Natsume Mamiya and his cheeky junior Toma Sahashi falling in love through their work as beauty consultants returns sweeter than ever. It adapts Sachi Narashima’s manga, which has surpassed 1.5 million copies in circulation. When the first season began broadcasting and streaming in August 2024, its sparkling, straightforward romance and Okuno and Toyoda’s “Sahanatsu” pairing prompted a flood of delighted reactions. Although its run lasted only a month, the finale sent the drama’s hashtag into X’s trending topics. Enthusiasm continued afterward: it took first place in the BL category of FOD Premium’s 2024 popularity ranking, and the leads appeared on the cover of a Chinese magazine as interest poured in from across Asia. Viewers in Japan and abroad called for a sequel.

Having become irreplaceable to one another, the couple now enjoy life together. Yet as they look toward the future, their home life brings more than sweetness: work and family become formidable obstacles, and an unexpected long-distance relationship threatens. The cosmetics world’s two princes deliver a romance brimming with warmth.

Okuno again portrays the earnest, innocent beauty consultant Natsume. His versatile work includes Gekokujo Kyuji, Billion x School and Yuji Sakamoto’s play Mata Koko ka; here he embodies Natsume’s wholehearted approach with sensitivity and sincerity. Toyoda returns as his possessive boyfriend Toma. Appearing in Mikami Sensei, DOPE: Narcotics Control Department Special Investigation Unit and Hikuidori wo, Kuu, and exploring love and hate in Soko kara Saki wa Jigoku, the rising actor brings a natural performance to a man whose love for Natsume has helped him become a devoted partner who takes his work seriously. The two actors, who described becoming soulmates during the first production, reunite with outstanding chemistry and even more heart-fluttering moments.

Familiar faces return, including M!LK’s Shunta Sono, Gaku Oshida and Yuichi Nakamura, alongside the production team that shaped the first season’s tender world. New arrivals include Tsubasa Nakagawa as Riku Hoshina, a new employee at Romy Feerique; Rosa Kato as top makeup artist Emma Lauren; Natsumi Okamoto as brand muse Lisa Yumihara; and Takashi Yamanaka as Toma’s father Hiromi Sahashi, with whom relations seem strained. These distinctive characters bring fresh changes to a couple preparing to take their next steps.

Urashimasakatasen, whose music enlivened the first season, return with the theme song “Lame Gradation.” Following their successful 2025 WARN12G arena tour across seven locations in Japan, the group bring their powerful singing and expression to the new season.

Natsume Mamiya and Toma Sahashi are male beauty consultants and lovers who help each other grow in both private and professional life. They are enjoying living together. Once unable to commit fully to work, Toma has become a dedicated makeup artist, encouraged by Natsume’s support and passion. Meanwhile, Natsume works hard as chief of the Shinonome Yurakucho store and discovers a new ambition. When renowned makeup artist Emma Lauren comes to Japan, their future begins to change dramatically.

All ten episodes are presented in a three-sided slipcase with a 36-page booklet, a calendar card beginning in July 2026 and two photo cards. Extras include making-of footage; visual commentaries for episode seven and the finale with Okuno and Toyoda; an interview with the two leads; and a screening and talk event featuring Okuno, Toyoda and Sono.
