Dogengers Regular Edition Blu-ray

Go beyond the local! The tokusatsu programme born in Fukuoka makes its way from Kyushu to the whole country. Dogengers arrives on Blu-ray!

Its buzz went far beyond local television. Although it aired only in Fukuoka Prefecture, the programme stirred up social media and entered Japan's nationwide Twitter trends immediately after its premiere. On the day of the finale, June 28, 2020, it unexpectedly reached number one.

Its quality goes beyond local television too. A distinctive sense of humour unlike previous tokusatsu productions thrilled adult fans as well as children. Look out for the wildly individual characters connected to local businesses. The heroes include Fukuokalibur, El Brave, Yamashiron, Rookie, Ohgaman and KitaQman. Their foes include Yabai Kamen, the wolf monsters Gulf and Galia, Shuraomaru and I-Doll.

The fans' support also surpassed local expectations. The Hero Suit Compensation Project, a crowdfunding campaign to repair the costumes, reached its five-million-yen target in only one hour. Production of a spin-off was added as a stretch goal, and by the final day support had reached an astonishing approximately forty million yen. The series also delivers tokusatsu action beyond local expectations.

At the time this edition was announced, a second season was in production for broadcast in 2021. KADOKAWA's official Dogengers Zukan guide was also available.

Story: Fukuoka's heroes protected the peace of their communities and were tremendously popular. One day, they receive an offer to appear in a new programme, HERO HOUSE. The rather familiar-sounding idea has the heroes and women living together in a house on Nokonoshima in search of serious romance, and the heroes eagerly take part.

After filming, they return by boat to mainland Fukuoka and discover that Evil Secret Society Inc. has completely invaded the city. Fukuoka has become a lawless land crowded with mohawked thugs! As the heroes panic and the Evil Secret Society gloats, the strongest hero, Ohgaman, appears. Being married, he could not join HERO HOUSE. Ohgaman sweeps up the monsters while the other heroes evacuate innocent citizens to Nokonoshima.

But something about the Evil Secret Society is different this time. A single blow from the golden, gleaming Yabai Kamen scatters the heroes. Ohgaman is wounded while protecting a young man and entrusts the role of hero to him. Newly arrived from Tokyo, the young man sets out to reunite Fukuoka's heroes and throws himself into the battle to reclaim the city from the Evil Secret Society.

The complete first season is accompanied by Special Talk!, a bonus discussion programme.
