Earwig and the Witch Anime

What is wrong with me?

Ten-year-old Earwig has grown up in a children's home, getting her own way and living without a care. Then a suspicious pair appears: a flamboyant woman who calls herself Bella Yaga and a tall man named Mandrake. Earwig is taken into their home.

'I am a witch. I brought you here because I needed someone to help me.' 'If you teach me magic, I will be your assistant.' Earwig begins working as Bella Yaga's assistant on the condition that she will learn magic. Instead, she is worked mercilessly and taught none at all.

Realising for the first time that things will not go her way, Earwig enlists the help of Thomas, a black-cat familiar who knows magic's secrets, and begins to fight back. What is wrong with me?

The Blu-ray contains the 83-minute film and approximately 88 minutes of extras. These include picture-in-picture storyboards alongside the main film, a dubbing script, a trailer collection, interviews with Shinobu Terajima, Etsushi Toyokawa, Gaku Hamada, Kokoro Hirasawa and Sherina Munaf, the staff interview Making Earwig and the Witch, and the Ghibli Museum's special Earwig and the Witch exhibition. The picture-in-picture storyboards and dubbing script are Blu-ray-exclusive extras.

The Japanese cast features Shinobu Terajima as Bella Yaga, Etsushi Toyokawa as Mandrake, Gaku Hamada as Thomas, Kokoro Hirasawa as Earwig and Sherina Munaf as Earwig's mother.
