Fruits Basket Animation

Fruits Basket: Prelude brings the story of Tohru’s parents, Kyoko and Katsuya, to animation for the first time. Under the overall supervision of original creator Natsuki Takaya, the long-awaited episode left untold in the television series finally reaches the screen.

Unable to trust anything, she could only keep hurting others—until she met that person. New animation and a television-series retrospective narrated by Kyo come together in the film, while Takaya also creates a completely new story showing what happens to Tohru and Kyo afterward.

The release includes an original eight-page manga booklet newly drawn by Natsuki Takaya and a booklet, with a special sleeve and a visual jacket newly illustrated by character designer Masaru Shindo.
