Kinokoinu: Mushroom Pup Vol. 3 Blu-ray

Time spent with the things you love is sure to become even more precious. A warm, comforting animation with just a little touch of mystery.

The long-awaited Kinokoinu arrives on Blu-ray! The original manga has surpassed 1.75 million copies in circulation, and its gently mysterious world comes to television animation.

Picture-book author Hotaru Yuyami notices a bright pink mushroom growing in his garden. As he gazes at it, it begins to move. It turns out to be Kinokoinu, a curious creature with a mushroom for one ear. Its carefree behaviour and surprisingly subtle ways of helping others bring a succession of funny days. Spending time with Hotaru, Kinokoinu and their friends somehow makes life feel happier: an everyday fantasy filled with warmth and a little mystery.

Carefully drawn animation and thoughtful attention to the characters' performances create a film that is gentle yet full of substance, with a character all its own. Newly created illustrations give the release a distinctive presentation.

The series' special reading material adds new manga alongside setting materials, while rare archived recordings offer another way to revisit its world. Features and first-press inclusions depend on the particular volume and their availability.

One day, Hotaru spots a vivid pink mushroom beneath the snow willow in his garden. He watches absent-mindedly, only for it to suddenly move! It wags its tail like a dog, but could it really be a mushroom? Still puzzled, he decides to share his home with this mysterious creature, Kinokoinu.

Before long, it is drawing in places where it shouldn't and always wants to eat every last piece of its favourite takoyaki. Hotaru's childhood friend and editor Komako, Yara from the mushroom research institute and others are drawn into these amusing days with a creature that does as it pleases, yet can quietly lend a helping hand.

This warm, gently mysterious animation follows Hotaru, Kinokoinu and everyone around them through days that are somehow more enjoyable simply because they are together.
