Koji Kikkawa 40th Anniversary Live Blu-ray

Koji Kikkawa marks forty years since his debut with performances drawn from two nights at Nippon Budokan. The recording brings together early solo favourites, later signature songs and numbers from COMPLEX, backed by guitarists Shinichi Ubukata and Kenji Fujii, bassist Koji Ueno, drummer Masafumi Minato and keyboardist Hoppy Kamiyama.

The programme opens with "TARZAN" and "SPEED", followed by "You Gotta Chance: Dance de Natsu wo Dakishimete", "MAJESTIC BABY", "ROUTE 31", "El Dorado" and "Honey Dripper". It continues with "Soul Blade", "Romeo no Nageki", "Gimlet ni wa Hayasugiru", "Love Way", "Salamandra", "Tightrope Dancer" and "Pretty Date". "LA VIE EN ROSE" leads into "Koi wo Tomenaide", "GOOD SAVAGE", "The Gundogs" and "Juicy Jungle", before the encores "Friday Night Review" and "Setsunasa wo Korosenai".

The performance includes the audience call-and-response of "MAJESTIC BABY", Kikkawa accompanying himself on piano for "Romeo no Nageki", early-career footage during "Friday Night Review", and the illuminated K-shaped set and audience wristbands of "El Dorado". "Juicy Jungle" brings the hall together in dance, while Kikkawa's trademark cymbal kick punctuates the celebration.
