Mieruko-chan Animation

Survive every encounter with grotesque, dangerous beings by ignoring them completely! The popular manga brings a fresh kind of horror comedy to television anime.

After its short stories caused a sensation on Twitter, Mieruko-chan began serialisation on ComicWalker. One day, Miko Yotsuya suddenly becomes able to see hideous monsters. Her response to meeting them is to act as though nothing is there: “I can’t see anything. I haven’t noticed anything!”

What would you do if you saw something you should never be able to see—something you must not look at? What if it spoke to you, or started coming towards you? Would you run as fast as you could? Learn strange techniques, seek out a medium and fight?

High-school student Miko chooses a different response: ignore everything, completely. With nerves of steel and extraordinary powers of pretending not to notice, she avoids the grotesque beings around her. Just because you cannot see them does not mean they are not beside you, too…

Miko’s cheerful best friend Hana Yurikawa and her classmate Yuria Niguredou, who hopes to become a powerful medium, join this unusual everyday world.

The original first-production edition was announced with an illustrated special outer case, a monster-themed digipak, a special booklet featuring new manga told from a monster’s viewpoint, and the first monster sticker. These limited extras are subject to availability and are not guaranteed with the current copy.

Extras include a reading of the original ghost story Mieru, an audio commentary and textless opening and ending sequences.
