Muv-Luv Animation

In 1973, an invasion by the extraterrestrial BETA pushes humanity to the brink of extinction. Humankind develops humanoid weapons known as Tactical Surface Fighters and deploys them in a worldwide resistance, but the enemy’s overwhelming numbers cost it most of Eurasia. Almost thirty years of fighting bring no clear prospect of victory.

In 2001, the Japanese Empire, which supports the Far Eastern front, faces the challenge of developing its next main Tactical Surface Fighter. A joint Japanese-American improvement programme is proposed under the United Nations’ Project Prominence. Imperial Royal Guard officer Yui Takamura is appointed to lead the project and travels to Alaska. At the same time, young American pilot Yuuya Bridges is heading there, neither yet aware of how profoundly their meeting will change their futures.

This science-fiction robot-action series combines the battle for humanity’s survival with the personal drama surrounding the development of new machines, in a story that leads towards Muv-Luv Alternative. Released ahead of that television adaptation’s October 2021 broadcast, this collection brings together all twenty-four episodes without requiring a disc change.
