The popular comic Made in Abyss receives its first video game adaptation in this 3D action RPG for PlayStation 4.

Made in Abyss is a fantasy manga by Akihito Tsukushi. Its distinctive world depicts a dark, extreme story through a gentle art style. The contrast between the two has helped win the support of many fans.

In this game, you descend into the world of the Abyss yourself and grow as you aim for its deeper layers. Alongside HELLO ABYSS, which lets you relive the anime, DEEP IN ABYSS offers an original story. The two modes let you fully enjoy the world of Made in Abyss.

HELLO ABYSS: relive the anime

Control Made in Abyss protagonist Riko and experience the anime's story. While enjoying the story, you learn the game's basic systems and how to progress.

Experience the story in which apprentice Cave Raider Riko meets Reg, a robot with a human-like appearance, and sets out for the bottom of the Abyss.

As in the original work, you advance through the Abyss together with Reg, a dependable companion in both combat and exploration. Event scenes are fully voiced by the anime cast.

DEEP IN ABYSS: an original story

Control a new Cave Raider who serves as your avatar and take on the Abyss. Grow as a Cave Raider by completing missions and bringing back relics, then aim for deeper layers.

Create your protagonist's hairstyle, facial features, and more. Bring relics back from the Abyss and complete a variety of requests to develop into a first-rate Cave Raider. As in the original work, increasing your Cave Raider rank lets you attempt deeper locations.

Unlike HELLO ABYSS, you cannot rely on Reg's powers here. More thorough preparation and more cautious actions are required.

This mode follows an original story and also offers encounters with familiar characters from the original work.

Exploration and survival systems

A variety of exploration tools and enough food are essential in the Abyss. However, the game limits the weight of your baggage, so you cannot bring everything you might need from town. You must also process materials found during exploration to obtain tools on site.

The items you can craft range from food and medicines to tools such as pickaxes and clothing.

The Curse of the Abyss, a distinctive element of the original work, is reproduced in the game. The deeper you descend, the stronger the strain when you return toward the surface, causing physical and mental abnormalities.

The game strives to recreate the harsh world of the original work.

Characters and Japanese voice cast

Protagonist — Akari Kito

The new Cave Raider you control in DEEP IN ABYSS.

Riko — Miyu Tomita

An active, curious girl who dreams of becoming a legendary White Whistle Cave Raider. She lived at the Belchero Orphanage, but when her mother Lyza's White Whistle and letter were found, she departed on a journey toward the bottom of the Abyss.

Reg — Mariya Ise

He sets out into the Abyss with Riko to discover who he is. He is earnest and, despite his appearance, speaks in a mature way. When confronted with unexpected situations, however, he tends to lose his composure and hesitate.

Tiare — Ayaka Suwa

A fellow student at the orphanage. Quiet and reserved, he tends not to stand out. He has strong physical abilities but is poor at running. His dream is to become a White Whistle and reach the bottom of the Abyss.

Dorothea — Akane Fujita

A fellow student at the orphanage. This innocent, cheerful girl admires Riko. Her absent-minded side is both a charm and a weakness, and she has a habit of immediately wanting to compete.

Raul — Natsumi Fujiwara

A fellow student at the orphanage. A boy whose strength is his energy. He tends to say whatever comes to mind and get himself into trouble, yet there is something about him that makes him hard to dislike.

Historical physical reservation bonus

The now-ended external reservation bonus was an acrylic art panel featuring a newly drawn illustration: the game's key visual, vividly portraying new Cave Raiders heading toward the depths of the Abyss.
