Metal Gear meets survival

A new style of Metal Gear, where strategy and cooperation determine your fate.

This spin-off preserves the strong action gameplay of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain while rebuilding it as survival action. The thrill of familiar stealth action is joined by the immediacy of surviving hunger and thirst.

The setting is a dangerous world where everything has fallen into ruin and harmful fog fills the landscape. Hunger, thirst, weather and time create a constantly changing environment that makes you feel you are living there.

Explore vast fields, collect materials and create weapons, equipment and your own base to open the door to survival!

The greatest threat to survival is an assault by the monstrous creatures known as Wanderers.

Cooperate with companions to defend what you have built against large numbers of enemies.

Unit placement, anticipating enemy behaviour and coordination with companions: reading the battle situation and choosing how to respond will determine your fate.

The tension of infiltration and stealth, the strategy of defence and the immediacy of survival combine to create a style of Metal Gear unlike any before.

Two modes and a shared play cycle

Metal Gear Survive is broadly divided into CO-OP Play and SINGLE Play.

In SINGLE Play, you can enjoy the story while learning the fundamentals of Metal Gear Survive, including elements of CO-OP Play.

The progression systems underlying both modes are shared. Achievements in SINGLE Play can be carried into CO-OP Play, and vice versa.

CO-OP Play

Cooperate with friends or players around the world to take on a variety of missions.

Salvage missions

Install a wormhole digger at the destination and undertake an energy-extraction mission.

Large numbers of creatures attack in waves. Coordinate with your CO-OP teammates to intercept them.

During the short intervals between waves, reinforce the defensive line or complete side quests that reward important items, preparing for the next fight.

If the wormhole digger is destroyed, the mission ends. Defend it successfully to complete the mission.

SINGLE Play

Explore a vast otherworld in pursuit of the goal of returning to your original world.

Survival

Injuries suffered from creature attacks and illnesses caused, for example, by consuming unhygienic food or drink must be treated promptly. Early treatment is an important part of survival.

The world of fog

The fog-filled world is dangerous, but remnants of civilisation are scattered throughout it. You may discover valuable materials or important information.

Return to explore repeatedly and gradually uncover the mysteries of the fog-filled world.
