Rent-A-Girlfriend Animation

The third season of Rent-A-Girlfriend brings Kazuya and Chizuru to a major turning point as their relationship deepens through making a film. Based on Reiji Miyajima’s romantic comedy from Weekly Shonen Magazine, which passed ten million copies worldwide, this volume contains episodes 1–6 of the season.

Hopeless college student Kazuya Kinoshita meets the graceful rental girlfriend Chizuru Mizuhara and lies to both his family and friends that she is his real girlfriend. Unable to confess the truth, he finds himself surrounded by strikingly different young women: his mischievous ex-girlfriend Mami Nanami makes mysterious advances; Ruka Sarashina, his provisional girlfriend, pursues him with sometimes overbearing enthusiasm; and Sumi Sakurasawa, a junior rental girlfriend, works hard despite her extreme shyness.

After sharing seasons and overcoming many events together, Kazuya’s feelings for Chizuru grow. He promises to keep supporting her dream of becoming an actress. Then her grandmother Sayuri’s health deteriorates, putting Chizuru’s wish to show her grandmother a film she has appeared in at risk. “We’re going to make a film together!” Kazuya decides to crowdfund a movie starring Chizuru.

Production begins, drawing in Mini Yaemori, who has moved in next door. The real life set in motion by that single rental continues to shine more brightly. What ending awaits Kazuya and Chizuru’s filmmaking journey?

After portraying the heroines on dates in the first season and in their private lives in the second, character designer Kanna Hirayama newly illustrates all five heroines, including Mini, for the sleeve. A substantial collection of chief animation director corrections offers a look behind the season’s film-centred production. These physical inclusions are available only while supplies last and are not guaranteed. All six included episodes have audio commentaries in changing cast combinations, with some unexpected guests. The video supplements include the creditless opening and Kanokari Call.
