Go beyond destiny.

The legendary Saint Seiya manga by Masami Kurumada, which helped establish the roots of shonen action manga, receives a complete Hollywood reboot from leading creators around the world. Toei Animation finally brings its long-held dream of a live-action adaptation to fruition. Artists and creators from Japan, the United States and beyond who love Saint Seiya and have inherited its spirit gather in Hollywood, crossing national and cultural boundaries to form a powerful team for a battle-action epic unlike anything seen before.

This origin story follows a young man who has yet to become anyone. As he confronts his past and struggles with the destiny suddenly revealed to him, he undergoes training and takes his first step towards becoming the Saint Seiya. An original story based on the manga and anime combines dramatic storytelling with spectacular, thrilling action.

Saint Seiya began in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1985 and became a major hit. It tells the story of Seiya and his companions' friendship as they strive to become Saints who protect the goddess Athena. They wear constellation-shaped armour called Cloths and overwhelm their enemies with techniques powered by the cosmic energy within their bodies, known as Cosmo. The series has found popularity overseas through its collected manga volumes, anime, films and character merchandise.

With more than 50 million manga copies in circulation worldwide, the beloved work has expanded into television animation, animated films, games, toys and merchandise for over 35 years before this large-scale Hollywood live-action adaptation. Its anime has aired in 80 countries and regions, inspiring passionate fans and many creators around the world. Bringing this internationally recognised Japanese work to live action required years of effort, countless ideas and a major production undertaking.

Seiya is a young man unaware that a power called Cosmo resides within him. Earning a precarious living through underground fighting, he searches for the sister from whom he was separated. One day he releases his Cosmo during a fight and becomes the target of a mysterious group seeking both powerful Cosmo users and the life of a woman named Sienna. Born under the star of Pegasus, Seiya is destined to protect Sienna, the reincarnation of Athena, goddess of wisdom and war, and save the world. When he recognises his hidden power, he will become a Saint who can save this world.
