Sandaime Shumei continues the story begun in Yamaguchi-gumi Sandaime, following Kazuo Taoka through wartime and the upheaval of postwar Japan. After serving a prison sentence for cutting down a sworn brother, Taoka emerges to pursue the position of third-generation leader of the Yamaguchi-gumi. The film dramatizes the ambition, violence and personal conflicts behind his rise to the organization's summit.

Ken Takakura returns as Taoka, joined by Noboru Ando, Kayo Matsuo, Tsunehiko Watase and Kunie Tanaka. Directed by Shigehiro Ozawa from a screenplay by Koji Takada, the film is based on Taoka's account and was released in August 1974.

This Blu-ray contains the 96-minute feature and its theatrical trailer, with Japanese Linear PCM mono audio and no subtitles. The film is presented in its theatrical-release form and carries a Japanese PG12 rating.
