Ken Takakura portrays Kazuo Taoka, the third-generation head of the Yamaguchi-gumi, in this dramatization based on Taoka's autobiography. Set against the upheaval of the Showa era, the film follows the ambition and violence behind his rise in Japan's underworld and the growth of the organization he led.

Bunta Sugawara, Tetsuro Tamba, Kayo Matsuo and Kunie Tanaka join Takakura in the cast. Kosaku Yamashita directs from Akira Murao's screenplay, with music by Chuji Kinoshita. First released in August 1973, the film approaches its subject as an acted crime drama drawn from a real-life account.

This Blu-ray presents the 102-minute feature from a 4K remaster in 1080p, with Japanese Linear PCM mono audio and no subtitles. A theatrical trailer is also included.
