Since the summer of 2018, Sangatsu no Phantasia has attracted attention through video-sharing sites and social media. Its recent work brings music, illustration and fiction together to express the sweet, painful feelings of adolescence, anxiety and hope for the future, and words shaped by a female perspective. This approach has begun to win support from many young listeners as well as existing fans. Seishun Nante Iranai wa, which had passed two million views at the time, and Gairo, Light no Akari Dake became popular online songs whose releases were eagerly awaited. Alongside numerous anime themes, this album is an important expression of the renewed group’s distinctive strengths.
