Sentenced to Be a Hero Anime

In this world, being a hero is the harshest sentence a criminal can receive. Condemned fighters must face the Demon Lord's forces, and even death offers no escape: they are revived and sent back into battle. Former Holy Knight commander Xylo Forbartz leads a unit of deeply dysfunctional penal heroes through this relentless war. His encounter with Teoritta, a living weapon known as the Sword Goddess, offers a chance to survive and seek revenge against the people who framed him. Her price for victory is praise and a pat on the head. Their contract draws Xylo further into a world of brutal fighting and political conspiracy.

Based on Rocket Shokai's novel with illustrations by Mephisto, the dark fantasy is directed by Hiroyuki Takashima and animated by Studio KAI. Kenta Ihara handles the series composition, Takeru Noda designs the characters and Shunsuke Takizawa composes the music. Yohei Azakami plays Xylo, Mayu Iizuka voices Teoritta and Shizuka Ishigami voices Patausche Kivia, with Shun Horie and Shunichi Toki among the penal unit's cast.

Volume 2 contains episodes 4-7. Extras include web previews for these episodes with new narration written by Rocket Shokai, a collection of promotional videos and commercials, and an episode 6 audio commentary featuring Yohei Azakami, Shunichi Toki and sound director Yuichi Morita.
