SHOSHIMIN: How to Become Ordinary Animation

“I wanted to know what it was like to fall in love.” The eagerly awaited second season of SHOSHIMIN: How to Become Ordinary comes to Blu-ray. It adapts the hugely popular mystery series by Naoki Prize winner Honobu Yonezawa, author of Hyouka and the Classic Literature Club series, with more than 1.1 million copies in circulation. Director Mamoru Kanbe joins a talented team at Lapin Track, the studio behind Sarazanmai and Undead Girl Murder Farce.

Now in their second year of high school, Kobato and Osanai have ended the mutually beneficial relationship through which they once helped each other. Osanai starts dating Urino, a first-year member of the newspaper club. Hoping to leave a mark on his school years and impress her, he throws himself into reporting on a series of arson incidents around the city for the school newspaper.

Meanwhile, Kobato begins dating his classmate Nakamaru and settles into a peaceful routine, until he encounters the scene of a fire by the river. What will become of Kobato and Osanai’s fresh attempts to live as ordinary citizens?

This limited edition includes a newly illustrated three-sided case and digijacket by character designer Atsushi Saito, plus a special booklet. Episodes 11 and 22 feature audio commentaries with Shuichiro Umeda, the voice of Kobato, and Hina Yomiya, the voice of Osanai. Video extras include the season’s AnimeJapan 2025 special stage, the creditless opening and ending, and a promotional video collection.
