Solitary Gourmet TV Series

All the same, I'm hungry. The popular gourmet documentary-style drama Solitary Gourmet, starring distinctive actor Yutaka Matsushige, reaches its eighth season as a landmark of late-night television.

When it quietly began airing late at night in January 2012, viewers became hooked on the appetizing food, Goro's bold way of eating and his inner voice. Ratings rose with each successive series, and, amid growing calls for a continuation, the latest season began after approximately a year and a half away from serial drama.

Season eight keeps the idea of never forgetting its beginnings while trying new devices, including the first episode centered on sweets and new tools for filming food. Surprises await, alongside wonderful restaurants and dishes discovered in towns whose names may be unfamiliar.

The story follows Goro Inogashira, played by Matsushige, an importer of miscellaneous goods who casually enters places to eat during business visits and freely enjoys whatever he wants, savoring moments of bliss.

The five-disc box contains all twelve season-eight episodes across three main discs, a fourth disc featuring the New Year's Eve special Kyoto and Nagoya Business Trip: Let's Eat Live!, broadcast in December 2018, and a fifth bonus disc. Main-program footage runs 432 minutes, with sixty-two minutes of extras. A season-eight book styled after Goro Inogashira's notebook is enclosed.

Extras include Solitary Gourmet Season 8 Making-of: Thank You for the Food Again This Season, Tracking the Gourmet Spots Afterwards: Season 8, the season's Memorable Lines Collection, and promotional spots. Product specifications and contents may change without notice.
