Space Sagittarius Volume 1 Blu-ray

Space Sagittarius follows the crew of a small space-freight company whose everyday worries rarely stay behind on Earth. Toppy and Rana pilot the Sagittarius, taking whatever work they can find while trying to support their families. Their next assignment arrives through Giraffe, a young archaeologist searching for Professor Anne after she travels to an unexplored planet to prove a theory rejected by her colleagues.

After a brief reunion with their families, Toppy and Rana set off for Vega 3 with Giraffe. Finding Anne does not bring a simple end to their journey: she disappears again, disagreements divide the travellers, and a meeting with the wandering bard Sibip adds another unusual companion to their adventures. The series combines interplanetary exploration with the practical concerns, friendships and fragile livelihoods of its working crew.

Produced by Nippon Animation and originally broadcast in Japan from 1986 to 1987, the series features Bin Shimada, Kenichi Ogata, Tsubasa Shioya, Mitsuko Horie and Maya Okamoto among its voice cast. This first volume contains episodes 1-39 of the 77-episode television series, presenting approximately 974 minutes of the programme across two Blu-ray discs.

The edition includes two textless opening sequences and a textless ending sequence, together with a booklet featuring an interview with screenwriter Nobuyuki Isshiki. The discs are region-free and feature the original Japanese mono audio without subtitles.
