SSSS.GRIDMAN Animation

SSSS.GRIDMAN returns in a theatrical compilation bringing together the world created by Tsuburaya Productions and TRIGGER. With its roots in the 1993 live-action series Gridman the Hyper Agent, the anime earned wide support for its fresh portrayal of young people living between everyday life and the extraordinary, alongside dynamic hero and robot action.

The original series was directed by Akira Amemiya, with a screenplay by Keiichi Hasegawa, known for his work on the Heisei Ultraman series, and music by Shiro Sagisu of Shin Evangelion and Shin Godzilla. Yoshiyuki Kaneko, the television series’ assistant director, directs this theatrical compilation, presenting its action and sound on a cinematic scale. The featured themes are OxT’s UNION and Maaya Uchida’s youthful beautiful.

The supplementary programme includes the voice drama Even If You Are Contrary, written by Akira Amemiya and originally offered to cinema audiences, featuring Sho Utsumi and Hass, played by Soma Saito and Akari Kito. A theatrical trailer and staff audio commentary with Akira Amemiya, Yoshiyuki Kaneko, Masaru Sakamoto and Shunsuke Shida are also included.

The package features an outer case newly illustrated by Gridman designer Masayuki Goto, a digipak and a special 32-page booklet. Its contents include a conversation between Amemiya and Kaneko, story and design materials, and storyboards for the new footage.
