The Cafe Terrace and Its Goddesses Animation

The six-way relationship of love and family begins to move in a big way. With all five girls taking the role of leading heroine, this seaside romantic comedy returns for a second season.

Somewhere by the sea stands an old café, where goddesses are said to live. Hayato Kasukabe inherits Familia from the grandmother with whom he had parted after an argument. There he finds five unfamiliar young women who call themselves his grandmother’s family. At first they do little but clash, but as Hayato learns about their pasts and family circumstances, their combined efforts help Familia overcome one problem after another.

Then a rival café unexpectedly appears next door—with five more charming young women working there. Mysterious connections stretching back to his grandmother’s generation draw Hayato and the girls closer still, setting their tangled relationships of love and family in motion.

Adapted from Koji Seo’s popular Weekly Shonen Magazine manga, which had passed 1.5 million copies in circulation when this release was announced, the series follows their shared life, the running of the café and its developing romances. Among its five heroines are a refined traditional beauty, a cool band girl, an energetic airhead, a mischievous college student and a classic tsundere. Seo, whose work has explored love, youth, tense contests and moving human drama, brings them into a romantic comedy with an abundance of heroines—and a new story involving the five girls at the rival café.

Volume 1 contains episodes 13–15, with audio commentary on episode 15 by Aya Yamane and Ayana Taketatsu.
