Ultraman Max returns in its first HD-remastered edition for the series' twentieth anniversary. First broadcast in 2005, the largely self-contained adventures follow the powerful, fast-moving hero as he confronts an eccentric array of monsters, revisiting the direct adventure storytelling at the heart of the Ultraman series.

The remaster works from the original standard-definition video masters. Drawing on Tsuburaya's experience with super-resolution restoration since Ultraman Tiga, the team refined individual scenes to preserve their dramatic intentions while producing a natural-looking increase in definition for modern displays.

All 39 television episodes are collected across five Blu-rays, with approximately 945 minutes of main content. A sixth disc contains approximately 240 minutes of extras. These include the HD-remastered Special Finale: Towards the Future of Ultra, the epilogue broadcast the week after the final episode and sometimes designated episode 40, and Climax Stories, a recap framed as the recollections of a character from the series. The archive material also includes the textless opening, making-of footage, promotional videos, the Max Box segments and an alternate ending for episode 15, Miracle of the Third Planet.

The cast includes Sota Aoyama, Nobuyuki Ogawa, Hitomi Hasebe, Sean Nichols, Hikari Mitsushima, Kai Shishido, Hiroko Sakurai and Susumu Kurobe. Directors include Shusuke Kaneko, Hirochika Muraishi, Takashi Miike, Akio Jissoji, Takeshi Yagi, Toshiyuki Takano and Toshihiro Iijima. The writing team includes Kengo Kaji, Yuji Kobayashi, Hideyuki Kawakami, Sotaro Hayashi, Shozo Uehara, Ai Ota, Chiaki J. Konaka and Keisuke Fujikawa.

The six picture-label discs are housed in three two-disc cases inside a slipcase. A 24-page special booklet accompanies a separate 24-page design book featuring character, monster and mechanical designs. Both books have newly drawn cover illustrations by character designer Hiroshi Maruyama. Main episodes and extras feature Japanese Linear PCM 2.0 stereo sound, with no subtitles.
