Jakko-tai The Movie Blu-ray combines musical period drama with a covert mission through the darker side of Edo. Ryuji Sato leads a band of condemned criminals whose dangerous work for the shogunate keeps them one step ahead of execution.

A series of disappearances has frightened the city, with rumours blaming man-eating demons. Meanwhile, the leader of the Otaiko sect is praised as a saviour who can protect the people. Suspecting that the two are connected, the shogunate sends the Jakko-tai to infiltrate the organisation and steal an object thought to be useful against the creatures. Their pickpocketing skills may be the key to completing the assignment.

The mission becomes personal when a young traveller searching for his lost sister recognises the sect's singer. Joining the infiltration to discover the truth, he attempts a rescue that leaves the unit exposed to the leader's formidable aide Tatara. The confrontation also forces the team's leader to face a past he had tried to bury.

Directed by Ryosuke Kanezaki, the film also stars Nichika Akutsu, Shohei Hashimoto, Shin Koyanagi and Tomoki Hirose. The disc includes teaser and theatrical trailers, together with commentary by Sato, Akutsu, Kanezaki and producer Tsuyoshi Nakano.

This region-free Blu-ray presents the approximately 84-minute film in 16:9 1080p, with Japanese Linear PCM 5.1 audio and a separate Japanese stereo commentary track. No subtitles are included.
