Moriarty the Patriot Concerts

Celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Moriarty the Patriot musical series with its first concert, packaged as a deluxe three-disc release with a live music CD. The event took place at Theater H from July 11 to 15, 2024.

The original manga, written by Ryosuke Takeuchi and illustrated by Hikaru Miyoshi, began serialization in Shueisha's Jump SQ. in 2016. The musical series launched in May 2019, combining live piano and violin with the distinctive immediacy of stage entertainment. Its fifth production, The Final Problem, performed in August and September 2023, brought one conclusion to the fateful conflict between crime lord James Moriarty and detective Sherlock Holmes. The anniversary concert reunites the performers who have shaped that journey.

Shogo Suzuki returns as William James Moriarty and Ryo Hirano as Sherlock Holmes, alongside Hidetoshi Kubota as Albert, Ikkei Yamamoto as Louis, Yuki Izawa as Sebastian Moran, Ryoki Nagae as Fred Porlock, Kenta Kamakari as John H. Watson and Shun Takagi as George Lestrade. Airi Kumada, Ryo Shibano, Junpei Takama and Yuri Nagasaki also perform. Guest appearances include Rei Fujita as Charles Augustus Milverton, Kazuma Kawahara as Adam Whiteley, Kanon Nanaki as Miss Hudson, Cecile Daigo as Irene Adler/James Bond, Masakatsu Nemoto as Mycroft Holmes, Yuka Yamauchi as Mary Morstan, Ryotaro Akazawa as Fred Porlock and Koji Kominami as Blitz Enders. The performers appear in concert attire rather than character costumes.

Hideyuki Nishimori handles the concert's composition and direction, continuing his role from the musical series. Composer and music director Tadasuke performs live on piano, with Shuga Hayashi on violin. Guitarists Harutoshi Ito and Ryo Noguchi, the latter performing on July 14, and percussionist notch broaden the instrumental lineup for this concert.

Disc 1 contains the 163-minute main concert. Disc 2 contains 170 minutes of bonus footage, including making-of material, talk segments, entertainment segments and guest segments. The enclosed booklet accompanies a 75-minute music CD featuring 23 live recordings from the main performance.

The CD includes the concert prologue, Moriarty the Patriot, The Secret of the Three Brothers, Oath I/Oath II/Oath III, Truth/A Study in Scarlet II, Only Me, March Toward the Light, Sinful I..., Though the Warrior of Steel Laments, In a Lonely Room, The Detective's Blues, the concert special medley, Torn into a Thousand Pieces, I Will Catch You, Please Give Us a Future, The Life You Gave Me, For a Friend, Devoting Everything, Together with You, Revolving Rondo, With You, Moriarty the Patriot and Open the Door.
