Overlord Anime

The transcendent one marches forward. The fourth television anime season of the popular light novels, with more than eleven million copies in circulation!

The fourth season of the hit dark fantasy Overlord began airing in July 2022. Adapted from the popular web novel, the series had surpassed eleven million copies in circulation. Starting with its first television season in 2015 and continuing through three seasons, its overwhelming scale and quality animation won fans in Japan and overseas, befitting its reputation as a fearsome dark fantasy. Overlord IV follows Ainz's further exploits after founding the Sorcerer Kingdom of Ainz Ooal Gown.

The original first-production promotion offered special slipcases, digipaks with new artwork by character designer Satoshi Tasaki and reduced-size storyboards for each volume. Across volumes 1–3 it additionally promoted a special soundtrack CD, a special voice-drama CD and the complete setting collection World Guide IV, respectively. Volume 2's five first-production inclusions were the special slipcase, illustrated digipak, special voice-drama CD, reduced-size storyboards for episode 9 and special leaflet. The retailer marks these first-production bonuses as no longer available. All five are described historically and excluded from the current offer; the soundtrack CD and World Guide IV belong to other volumes.

Regular features: the chibi-character short anime Ple Ple Pleiades 4, promotional videos and special previews. Episodes 6–9 are included.

Original broadcast: began July 5, 2022. AT-X: Tuesdays at 22:00, with repeats Thursdays at 10:00 and Mondays at 16:00; TOKYO MX: Tuesdays at 24:30; MBS: Tuesdays at 26:30; TV Aichi: Tuesdays at 25:30; BS 11: Tuesdays at 24:30. All schedules began July 5, 2022.

Story: Ainz is troubled. As king of the Sorcerer Kingdom of Ainz Ooal Gown, how should he lead the nation? With capable NPCs such as Albedo and Demiurge and undead who can work without sleep or rest, the country is now safe and free of hunger. Yet its inhabitants remain fearful and anxious. The city is quiet, as though its fire has gone out, and has lost its former energy. Finding no answer, Ainz visits the Adventurers' Guild alone and makes a proposal to guildmaster Ainzach. Meanwhile, rulers of neighbouring countries, unsettled by the sudden emergence of the Sorcerer Kingdom, devise countermeasures of their own. Can Ainz thwart their schemes and build his ideal nation?
