The Daily Life of a Part-Time Torturer Volume 1 Blu-ray

A slightly dark workplace comedy. The hugely discussed series that became a hit on social media receives its long-awaited anime adaptation.

The original manga, The Daily Life of a Part-Time Torturer, is serialised to acclaim in Hakusensha's Young Animal Web. It placed sixth in the web manga category of the Next Manga Awards 2023 and fifth in the WEB Manga General Election 2023. The contrast between a warm, relaxed workplace and gruesome torture has made this slightly dark workplace comedy a favourite, and now its eagerly awaited animation arrives.

Mike, a new Spiritus part-timer, has a small build and cute face, yet sometimes reveals an unexpected side when absorbed in his work. He is played by Takuma Nagatsuka, voice of Leo Saionji in KING OF PRISM. Hugh avoided interacting with others as much as possible but started his part-time job to learn about society. He is played by Yohei Azakami, voice of Guel Jeturk in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury. Kisho Taniyama, Rikuya Yasuda and other popular, talented actors fully inhabit the richly individual characters.

The lavish first-production specification was announced with an outer case newly illustrated by original author Yawora Tsugimi, an anime-illustrated jacket and a special booklet containing cast interviews, design materials and more. These fan-oriented extras depend on the pressing supplied. CDJapan currently marks the first-production extras as no longer available; they are not guaranteed with this order.

Story This is a world where killing and torture have been legalised. Of the many torture contractors, Spiritus Co., Ltd. is one of the industry's leading employee-friendly companies, targeting only evil people. Four part-time workers are employed there.

The caring senior employees are Cero, the ace who can do anything and get along with anyone, and Shiu, the living legend of the torture world whom everyone admires. The promising newcomers are Mike, a cute and energetic hard worker, and Hugh, a serious, kindhearted university student. In their homely workplace they carry out their duties together in a relaxed, friendly manner every day.

Other cheerful, reliable specialists join the bustle: waste collectors, cleaners... and even killers. Daily life with these colourful companions turns out to be surprisingly comfortable. This slightly dark workplace comedy is clocking in.
