The series has exceeded twelve million copies in circulation. Serialisation began in KADOKAWA's Young Ace in 2013, and the major hit created by Kafka Asagiri and illustrated by Sango Harukawa has expanded into anime, stage productions, films and many other media. While the excitement of the fourth television season, broadcast in January 2023, is still fresh, the fifth season continues its story.

Story A coin-shaped bomb uncovered at the Sky Casino explodes in the city. Amid the confusion, the end begins. The name of the despicable culprits is the Armed Detective Agency.

Atsushi Nakajima and his companions have fallen into the vile trap laid by the Decay of the Angel. Through the reality-altering power of the Page, they have become a terrorist group condemned throughout the world. The Hunting Dogs, the military police's strongest special unit, pursue their prey and tear it apart, sustained by convictions and sacrifices that dedicate their bodies to society. Their captain, Ochi Fukuchi, calls for the formation of the supranational armed security force known as the Army of Mankind to oppose this new age of terrorism.

Though anxious without his companions beside him, Atsushi keeps running. Stumbling and falling, this pitiful stray dog finds seeds of hope scattered along his path. Yukichi Fukuzawa and Ranpo Edogawa, the very foundations of the Detective Agency, look for a chance to counterattack. So does Osamu Dazai, who has deliberately entered prison to uncover the schemes of the demon Fyodor.
