Dive into the future! Free! began as a television series in July 2013. Haruka Nanase finds something special in water and swimming. Makoto Tachibana led him into that world, while Rin Matsuoka drew him towards competitive swimming. Through swimming they met their teammates, sometimes misunderstanding and clashing with one another, yet ultimately connecting their feelings and reaching a view they had never seen before.

Free! Eternal Summer followed in July 2014. During his final summer of high school, Haruka struggled with thoughts about his future, strengthened precious bonds with irreplaceable friends and decided on the next start each of them would pursue.

The December 2015 prequel High Speed! Free! Starting Days explored Haruka’s junior-high-school years, that uncertain season between boyhood and young adulthood. Meeting Ikuya Kirishima and Asahi Shiina, he discovered the joy of swimming with another outstanding team. The October 2017 special Free! Take Your Marks then portrayed the group’s everyday lives as high-school graduation approached.

In July 2018, the arrival of summer opens a new chapter. Having graduated, Haruka and his friends step towards their own futures, carrying the bonds that swimming forged. In Tokyo, Haruka reunites with Asahi, with whom he once swam in a relay. Memories of junior high return, bringing back the image of Ikuya as he was then.

Makoto, who moved to Tokyo alongside Haruka, begins working towards a new dream. Rin travels to Sydney and has an unexpected encounter in his new surroundings. Do fresh challenges await each of them, or a confrontation with the past they left behind? From elementary school through junior high and high school to university, their story of friendship and youth woven in the water comes together in Free! Dive to the Future.

The bonus programme brings together clean opening and ending sequences, commercials and Free! DF Secret Movies volumes one through six.
