Futo Tantei Blu-ray Box Part 1
TV 風都探偵 Blu-ray BOX 上巻
Two detectives working as one. Their battle had a continuation.
The official sequel manga depicting events after Kamen Rider W, broadcast in 2009–2010, receives its long-awaited anime adaptation. During its original broadcast, Kamen Rider W attracted viewers beyond tokusatsu fans with unusually strong dramatic storytelling and a carefully constructed world. The sequel manga began in Shogakukan's Weekly Big Comic Spirits in August 2017. Intending to launch it as a work for a magazine aimed at adult readers, its creators deliberately omitted Kamen Rider W from the title, developing it as Kamen Rider for adults. This drew widespread attention and brought readers beyond the original fandom, reaching more than 2.1 million copies in circulation through volume 12.
Futo Tantei now becomes an anime. The familiar detective partners Shotaro Hidari and Philip are joined by the enigmatic beauty Tokime as they confront new strange incidents in the windy city of Futo. Stylish, fast-paced action and battle scenes aim for a high standard of animation. Music is by Kotaro Nakagawa and Shuhei Naruse, both experienced in numerous Kamen Rider productions. Koji Kikkawa and Mitsuru Matsuoka provide the theme song Tsumi to Batsu to Underground.
Story: Shotaro and Philip were supposed to have protected Futo. Yet strange phenomena still occur behind the scenes. A mysterious beauty, Tokime, appears before them, along with a new evil presence. Kamen Rider W's new battle now begins. The organization Museum, which once threatened the city, was destroyed by the Kamen Riders, but the Gaia Memories it mass-produced remain scattered and circulate secretly in Futo. People continue turning into Dopants through their power. Tokime's arrival at the detective partners' office opens another case.
Episodes 1–6 are included. Audio features: episode 1 cast commentary with Yoshimasa Hosoya, Koki Uchiyama and Akira Sekine; episode 3 staff commentary with director Yosuke Kabashima, script supervisor Riku Sanjo and executive producer Hideaki Tsukada.
Bonus Blu-ray: The First Case event footage; a special discussion commemorating the anime adaptation between writer Riku Sanjo and producer Hideaki Tsukada from the 2021 Annecy International Animation Film Festival; making-of movie, first half; a creditless opening; and promotional videos.
The original first-production promotion included a slipcase with new artwork by director Yosuke Kabashima and character designer Hidekazu Ebina, a digitray with new artwork by manga artist Masaki Sato, and a 32-page special booklet. These limited-production bonuses are listed as no longer available by the retailer and excluded from the current offer. The original Amazon announcement noted that bonuses were quantity-limited, could be enclosed with earlier qualifying reservations, were principally for orders placed before release while supplies lasted, and might continue after release depending on stock. It applied to qualifying Amazon-sold and shipped products and directed marketplace customers to sellers' descriptions. These are historical conditions rather than a promise of current first-production inclusions.
Original streaming and broadcast: exclusive streaming on U-NEXT and broadcast on TOKYO MX and other stations began in August 2022.
