Kyoto, 1951. Ichika, the 34-year-old eldest daughter of Kuwanoki, a traditional restaurant with a history stretching back two hundred years, had lost her husband in the war and was working as a chef at a hotel. With Kuwanoki on the brink of financial collapse, the family arranges for Amane, the 19-year-old third son of an influential Osaka family, to marry into the household in exchange for financial support. Ichika has taken a husband fifteen years her junior, while university student Amane is determined to turn Kuwanoki around. Little by little, they begin to trust each other as partners at work, slowly drawing closer as husband and wife, and as a man and a woman. In volume six, Ichika's younger sister Futaba and her husband return to Kuwanoki. To restore her husband's confidence as a cook and prove to their aunt that Kuwanoki needs him, Ichika joins him in a cooking competition organized by a newspaper. Unexpected trouble leaves them in a tight spot... Meanwhile, Ichika and Amane are slowly growing closer as husband and wife. Amane begins to realize that his feelings are turning toward Ichika, but although they seem within reach, he cannot quite convey them to her. Then someone visits Kuwanoki and throws both their hearts into turmoil! A turbulent sixth volume!
