Luminous Witches Animation

They are witches even without fighting! The story of an unusual group of witches who protect everyone’s smiles through song and music finally comes to television anime.

Luminous Witches was announced in 2018 as a highlight of the tenth anniversary of the World Witches series, which includes Strike Witches. Unlike the witches of the Joint Fighter Wings who protect people through battle, these new witches safeguard people’s smiles with song and music. Their arrival drew considerable attention, and activities began soon after auditions.

Before the television anime aired, the group released four CD singles and two Blu-ray collections documenting its activities, and appeared repeatedly on major live stages such as Minna de Dekiru Koto! and Music Festival. In February 2022, they finally held their first solo concert, Luminous Witches 1st LIVE: On your mark!, making it a success. The long-awaited television anime then began airing in July 2022!

Grace is the commander who leads the group.

The release series features video bonuses from the second volume onward: concert footage of Luminous Witches 1st LIVE: On your mark! in the second volume, backstage footage in this third volume, and a visit to Shaft in the fourth. These features showcase the appeal of Luminous Witches.

This story records the activities of a separate unit of witches who do not fight, taking place in the same world and timeline as the 501st Joint Fighter Wing, Strike Witches. Labelled “unfit for combat,” they gather around Ginny, a girl with a mysterious air and the aptitude of a Night Witch. They turn their modest individual abilities into song and dance, climbing back from rock bottom to bring smiles to people around the world.

This volume includes backstage footage from Luminous Witches 1st LIVE: On your mark! and creditless ending sequences from the first half of the series.
