Muv-Luv Alternative Animation

Humanity faces defeat: resist the despair drawing ever closer. Muv-Luv Alternative brings the adventure-game series, which had surpassed 800,000 copies, to television animation.

September 15, 1998. Sayoko Komaki arrives at the Imperial Japanese Army’s Sado Base to join its Tactical Surface Fighter unit. As her fellow pilot Kusano shows her around the base, she catches glimpses of the lives of the people living there and laments that they have not been able to show the nation a way forward. Meanwhile, a massive group of BETA approaches Sado Island.

This standard-edition first box brings together episodes one through six. Character designer Takuya Tani provides new artwork for the three-sided case, while the special booklet contains design drawings and interviews with the staff. Supplementary viewing includes clean opening and ending videos, promotional videos and commercials, plus footage from the first part of the advance screening held on September 25, 2021.
