Muv-Luv Alternative Animation

A story of the bonds between people fighting at the limits of survival unfolds in one of the countless parallel worlds that exist across time and space. Humanity has spent decades battling the extraterrestrial life-forms known as BETA, piloting humanoid weapons called Tactical Surface Fighters. Driven to the edge of extinction, how will these people live as they confront their cruel fate? Humanity faces defeat: resist the despair drawing ever closer.

Muv-Luv began as an adventure game planned and produced by âge in 2003. Together with Muv-Luv Alternative, released in 2006, it forms one grand story and has grown into a project spanning many shared-world titles and other media. With more than eight hundred thousand games sold across the series, its long-awaited animated adaptation continues in a second season broadcast from October 2022.

On December 23, 2001, the large-scale Operation 21 is ordered to capture the BETA hive on Sado Island. It is also an operational evaluation of the 00 Unit: Sumika Kagami is to board the Susanoo Mark II and annihilate the hive. Unable to hide their nerves before their first battle, Takeru Shirogane and his companions vow to make the operation succeed—and to ensure that everyone survives.

This standard Box IV presents episodes 19–24. A permanent three-sided case features new artwork by character designer Takuya Tani, while the special booklet contains design drawings and other animation production documents. The supplementary programme includes promotional videos, commercials and the television special Second Season: Special Operation Before the Battle.
