My Beautiful Man: Eternal Cinema Concert Blu-ray

My Beautiful Man: Eternal Cinema Concert revisits Hira and Kiyoi's story through a screening accompanied by live orchestral music. Conducted by Hirofumi Kurita and performed by the specially assembled My Beautiful Man orchestra, the concert preserves the film's dialogue and sound effects while giving its score a new live setting. This is the cinema-concert recording, not the standard film-only Blu-ray.

Based on Yu Nagira's novels and starring Riku Hagiwara and Yusei Yagi, the film continues the relationship that began when the isolated Hira fell for the beautiful, commanding Kiyoi at school. After graduation and the difficulties that brought them together, the two share a happy home. Yet as Hira approaches university graduation and begins assisting a professional photographer, he worries that he will obstruct Kiyoi's growing acting career. Hira still sees Kiyoi as someone to worship, while Kiyoi wants to stand beside him as an equal partner. Their affection remains strong even as their expectations begin to pull them apart.

The recorded programme opens with Hagiwara's venue narration and the cinema-concert presentation. A second section features a conversation between film director Mai Sakai and composer Yoshitaka Fujimoto, video messages from Hagiwara and Yagi, and further venue narration. Together, the film and live performance offer a different way to experience the story's changing seasons and emotional turning points.

The Blu-ray contains approximately 144 minutes of main programme and 17 minutes of extras, taking viewers behind Hagiwara's narration recording and backstage at the cinema concert. A booklet is included. The region-free disc presents the programme in 16:9 1080i with Japanese Linear PCM 2.0 audio and no subtitles.
