Otaku Elf Animation

A leisurely downtown comedy connects the Edo and Reiwa eras. Adapted from Akihiko Higuchi’s popular Shonen Magazine Edge manga, Otaku Elf follows shrine maiden Koito Koganei and a reclusive elf worshipped as a deity at Takamimi Shrine, a Tsukishima institution with more than four hundred years of history.

C2C, the studio behind Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina and Reincarnated as a Sword, brings the story to animation. The experienced production team includes the director behind Hitoribocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu and PuraOre! Pride of Orange, series writer Shogo Yasukawa, whose credits include Chivalry of a Failed Knight and Food Wars!, and character designer Takeshi Oda, known for Wandering Witch and Harukana Receive.

Yuka Ozaki voices Koito, while Ami Koshimizu plays the shrine’s divine resident Elda. Hitomi Sekine plays Koito’s younger sister Koyuzu, and Haruka Aikawa voices her best friend Koma Sakuraba, bringing the charming neighbourhood cast to life.

In Tsukishima, Tokyo’s Chuo ward, Takamimi Shrine has stood since the Edo period. Its sacred deity is an elf summoned from another world who has become a complete shut-in. Koito, the shrine’s fifteenth-generation maiden, serves Elda and struggles to keep up with her enthusiasm for modern comforts and otaku hobbies. Yet the Edo-era culture Elda teaches her is fascinating, and the long-standing bonds between the elf and Tsukishima’s people bring warmth to everyday life. Even so, this elf really is far too lazy! When elf-and-shrine-maiden pairs from other shrines appear, life becomes livelier still.

This third volume contains episodes nine to twelve and the creditless ending sequence.
