Studio Ghibli Animation

Following the acclaimed Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata collections, this third collection brings together ten works that helped shape Studio Ghibli, from Ocean Waves to Earwig and the Witch.

Yoshiyuki Momose’s Ghiblies appears on disc for the first time after its original television broadcast in April 2000. The North American version of The Secret World of Arrietty is also included.

In Ocean Waves, Taku Morisaki, now studying at university in Tokyo, glimpses someone on the opposite platform at Kichijoji Station. As she disappears into an outbound Chuo Line train, he is sure it was Rikako Muto. But hadn’t she gone to university in Kochi? Flying home, his thoughts return to the summer two years earlier when they first met.

Beautiful Rikako excels at both studies and sports. Taku feels conflicted when he learns that his close friend Matsuno is drawn to her. To him, she is simply the girl his friend loves from afar. That should have been all—until their senior-year school trip to Hawaii. Kochi, summer, seventeen: the prologue to Taku and Rikako’s story.
